dated for 1861, with blued round 36in. barrel (some frosting) marked at the breech 'TURNER'S PATENT', drift adjustable fore-sight with drum base, broad ladder rear-sight with locking reversible blade, borderline engraved colour hardened top-tang, colour hardened (much finish remaining) border engraved bar-action lock with sliding safe forwards of the hammer partially obscuring the signature 'THOMAS TURNER, BIRMINGHAM', chequered figured walnut full-stock, the right hand side of butt bearing a borderline engraved white metal oval plaque inscribed 'BRIGHTON ALL COMERS MATCH, 2nd APRIL 1861.
