A 15-BORE FLINTLOCK HEAVY OVERCOAT PISTOL, SIGNATURE OBSCURED, no visible serial number,
possibly signed 'J. BRIND' or 'BEARD', circa 1800, with octagonal 4 1/2in. barrel, traces of signature to the top-flat, solid engraved top-tang, borderline engraved flat bevel edged lock with stepped round tail further engraved with a trophy, swan necked cock, roller frizzen spring, walnut full-stock with smooth bag-shaped butt (old loss to right fore-end upper edge), engraved brass furniture and probable original ramrod, overall length 10 1/4in.
