A WORLD WAR TWO GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD WITH LIONS-HEAD POMMEL,
circa 1939, with polished slightly curved blind fullered plated 30 3/4in. blade, makers stamp at forte (covered by the langet), carved brass 'P' shaped hilt with broad langets, the front with a square-form eagle and swastika, the reverse with a vacant shield for engraving, carved turned down quillion and knucklebow, lionshead pommel with the carved mane running onto the oak-leaf carved back-strap and inset with red glass eyes, black celluloid grip with wire binding, complete with its black painted scabbard with plain iron mounts, strong amount of gilding to sword hilt
