A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOL SIGNED 'DAWES', no visible serial number,
circa 1780, with iron 9 1/4in. slightly swamped barrel, bead- fore-sight, carved flats at breech broken by a platinum line, the top of barrel engraved with a starburst, flat, bevel edged step-tailed lock with engraved detail signed forwards of the hammer 'DAWES', rainproof pan, plain walnut full-stock with chequered bag-shaped butt, iron trigger-guard and tang, two barrel keys, iron ramrod thimbles and probable later brass-tipped iron ramrod
