AN UNUSUAL 19TH CENTURY MODEL CANNON AND FRAMEWORK,
circa 1810, believed to be a classroom model to demonstrate a device allowing the deployment and withdrawal of a field-gun within a rotating fortress turret, the cannon of 38-bore, with 10 1/2in. bronze barrel including ringed cascabel and banded in typical period fashion, mounted on a wood carriage with iron trunnion clamps with a square beam single axle supporting iron bound multiple spoke wooden wheels, the whole mounted on a complex framework or scaffold with eight small brass wheels to the underside and a series of drums and gears to allow the winding or releasing of rope together with various hooks and eyes assumed to be part of the same process, the top of framework with an oval makers stamp, possibly 'MODEL L'art'ia', the underside with label reading 'Antonio's Antiques' together with an inventory number
