A RARE 18th CENTURY BOXWOOD HAND-FLAIL,
circa 1780 and of the type associated with the Bow Street Runners, with turned boxwood grip-piece terminating in a disc-shaped pommel, the grip swelling at the top where a short piece of leather covered rope joins the pear-shaped boxwood and weighted head, the whole with inscribed radial lines, attached to an old auction house label marked 'LOT 105, BOW STREET RUNNERS TRUNCHEON FLAIL - 1780' and '751'.
