A 10-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED WESTLEY RICHARDS, serial no. 11010,
for 1865, with re-browned single-bite 30in. damascus barrels, the top-rib signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON' and 'PATENT', standing breech marked 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT 900', shallow fenced pin platforms, scroll engraved top-lever and surround (traces of colour) also marked 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT', borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS' (some shallow pitting), scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers, walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist and fitted with an iron heel-plate, iron tang and trigger guard bow, chequered splinter fore-end held by a single cross key and with crab-claw joint and moulded finial to fore-end tip, together with copies from the Westley Richards ledger

Provenance: This shotgun was originally ordered by a Sir Thomas Proctor Beauchamp, who cancelled the purchase for reasons unknown. The commission was then taken up by Sir Joseph Calquhoun Bt. and it was delivered on September 27th, 1865
