made to the regulation pattern with 33in. Birmingham proofed barrel also stamped with a small crown over '1/ E', the action engraved with circular belt, marked 'W. J. JEFFERY & CO. QUEEN VICTORIA ST' and in the centre 'LONDON', iron mounted two piece figured walnut stock, complete with sling swivels and original rod, the stock re-varnished

Other Notes: The crown over 1/E mark was an Enfield stamp for volunteer rifles. A volunteer, officer or gundealer could deliver the rifle to the Enfield inspectorate and for the price of two shillings and six pence the rifle would be inspected and tested to ensure it was to government standard, and stamped with this mark
