circa 1835, possibly a conversion from an earlier flintlock, with browned 30in. barrels, raised top-rib signed in bold script lettering 'A. THOMSON' followed by a smaller script 'DRUMMOND, EDINBURGH', oversized bolsters at breech, bold acanthus leaf engraving to the top-tang, border and acanthus leaf engraved flat bar-action locks with clipped tails and signed 'ALEX THOMSON, EDINBURGH', en-suite engraved slab sided dolphin-headed hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (smoothed) and with an oval white metal escutcheon behind the top-tang, engraved iron furniture and replacement ramrod
