circa 1845, with octagonal 26 1/2in. barrel, tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight on the barrel, moulded small iron frame with faceted barrel-joint, long plain top-tang with pillar peep-sight at wrist, borderline and scroll engraved back-action lock, 'Kentucky' style walnut butt-stock with brass crescent heel-plate and faceted trigger guard bow with raised lower tang, double set-triggers, walnut detachable mushroom palm-rest in lieu of fore-end attached by an iron mount to the barrel
