A GOOD .177 BSA LADIES or LIGHT PATTERN UNDER-LEVER AIR-RIFLE, serial no. L3628,
for 1919, the first year of production, with blued 17in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight and elevation rear-sight, tap-action breech marked 'LOAD'. plain blued air-chamber etched with 'THE BSA STANDARD AIR-RIFLE .177 BORE (No1)', the legend separated by the 'piled arms' trademark over 'THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO LTD ENGLAND, SOLE MANUFACTURERS' in turn over 'PATENTED' with five countries various patents on three lines (finish lightly faded but completely legible), two-screw trigger unit with cast guard, walnut saw-handled butt-stock chequered at the grip, ribbed finish to heel and push-button under-lever
