circa 1887, 28in. A.G. Parker lined octagonal nitro barrel (loose), with matt top-flat, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear sight with two folding leaf sights marked for 50, 100 and 150 yards and with white metal sight lines, the adjacent flats engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND ST. LONDON.' and 'WINNERS OF ALL THE PRIZES AT THE 'FIELD' RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON. 1883.', action incorporating John Thomas patent snap-action, patent no. 3091 of 15th November 1871, rebounding back action lock with carved percussion fence, double set-triggers, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of colour-hardening and finish, 12 3/4in. pistolgrip stock including steel buttplate and engraved steel pistolgrip cap, Hackett-type snap-on splinter fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 9oz.
