A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR PIGEON GUN, serial no. 77943,
30in. Bohler Bros & Co 'Scheffield Special Steel' (sic) nitro barrels with raised tapered rib, the tubes engraved 'AUGUSTE FRANCOTTE BREVETE A LIEGE' (faint), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke in both, treble-grip action with hidden third bite, removable striker discs, articulated front trigger, the action, lockplates and furniture profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork interspersed with pigeons in flight, the action bar with fine stylised scroll bordering, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, lockplates with minor pitting at the rear edges, 14in. stock (scarred at hand) including horn buttplate, weight 7lb. 12oz.
Provenance: The serial number would indicate a date of manufacture circa 1913.
