AN 11mm (MAUSER COMMISSION) BOLT-ACTION SERVICE-RIFLE, MODEL 'M71 MAUSER', serial no. 5366,
dated for 1875, with 33 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, broad elevating ladder rear-sight with windage adjustment and auxiliary folding battle-sight, octagonal breech-section signed 'DANZIG' and with a 'W' over a crown, octagonal receiver marked 'J.G. M71', straight handled bolt (matching number) with chequered flag safe to rear, walnut full-stock with Imperial inspectors stamps to side and underside of butt, iron furniture, the spur of the heel-plate stamped '6.R.9 17', brass trigger-guard with iron trigger-plate, two barrel bands and nose-cap and jag-ended iron clearing-rod, all matching numbers.
