A FINE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1815, with possibly shortened and earlier round 32 1/4in. tapering browned twist-iron barrel signed in a gold poincon at breech 'H.W. MORTIMER & CO, LONDON', applied silver bead fore-sight, engraved steeple and starburst at breech, gold line and touch-hole to breech-plug, trophy engraved top-tang, acanthus leaf engraved bevel-edged step-tailed slightly curved flat lock signed 'WILSON, VIGO LANE', lozenge shaped trough rain-proof pan, engraved cock and front face of the frizzen, roller spring, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture, white metal moulded fore-end cap with ramrod throat and two turned under-barrel ramrod thimbles, complete with its brass tipped ebony ramrod

Other Notes: It is not clear at the present time whether this was a Wilson gun made using a pre-existing barrel or a Wilson gun re-barrelled by Mortimer.
