29in. nitro reproved Whitworth-steel chopperlump barrels (loose on action), the rib engraved in gothic script 'THE AUTOMATIC' and 'JAMES WOODWARD & SONS. 64 ST. JAMES'S. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, push-forward underlever (stiff), T. Southgate and J. Woodward patent 'Automatic' lever-cocking action, patent no. 600 of 1876, use number 604, incorporating T. Perkes patent ejectors, patent no. 12176 of 8th September 1887, use number 418, removable striker discs, side-clipped arcaded fences, the top-strap gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, protruding tumbler pivots with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best fine border and floral scroll engraving, brushed finish, 14 3/8in. highly-figured stock with Prince of Wales semi-pistolgrip with pistolgrip-cap and including horn buttplate, weight 6lb. 6oz.
