circa 1760, with turn-off triple-staged banded 2in. barrel (frozen), false rifling at the muzzle, moulded band at breech, borderline engraved radiused lock signed 'ASTON', unbridled frizzen, walnut half-stock with semi birds-head butt fitted with a brass grotesque mask butt-cap, plain brass oval escutcheon to wrist and plain brass shaped side-plate, no provision for ramrod
