WILLIAM POWELL & SON 12-BORE 1864 PATENT BAR-IN-WOOD LIFT-UP TOPLEVER ROTATING SINGLE BOLT SNAP-ACTION PINFIRE HAMMERGUN, serial no. 4402, 30in. damascus barrels, the rib engraved WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 13, CARRS LANE, BIRMINGHAM, action incorporating William Powell patent lift-up toplever, patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, use number 847, carved fences, bar-in-wood, rebounding sidelocks with flat sided hammers, crosshatch and border engraving, the lockplates with later amateur engine turning, brushed finish, 14 1/4in. figured stock with steel buttplate, grain split to underside, weight 7lb.
