W. & C. SCOTT 10-BORE (2 5/8IN.) 'SPECIAL FIELD GUN' 1865 PATENT TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 28343, circa 1887, 30 1/2in. black powder only damascus barrels (very loose), broad rib engraved 'SPECIAL FIELD GUN.', and 'W. & C. SCOTT & SON. MAKERS & PATENTEES. LONDON.', and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech-end, 2 5/8in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke in both, treble-grip action with ornately carved fences, incorporating Scott patent toplever, patent no. 2752 of 25th October 1865, use number 2752, rebounding sidelocks with carved C-scroll hammers and broad button strikers, best border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining slight traces of colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. figured semi-pistolgrip stock including buttplate, fore-end with Scott patent lever release, patent no. 615 of 15th February 1876, weight 9lb. 7oz.
