circa 1900, 26in. blued octagonal barrel with partially matted top-flat engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS. FROM PURDEY'S. 63 PALL MALL. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON.', open rear sight with two folding leafs marked for 50, 100 & 150 yards, and with white-metal inlaid sight-lines, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, sidelever opening, plain slab-sided action retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish, 15 1/4in. figured stock including 1in. wooden extension, Hackett-type snap-on splinter fore-end, weight 4lb. 12oz., in a canvas and leather guncase with William Evans trade label
