Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that the gun was gifted to his Uncle in the late 1960's by a member of the Afghan Royal family and that it was formerly the property of Amanullah Khan, King of Afghanistan.

Amanullah Khan (1st June 1892 - 25th April 1960) ruled Afghanistan from 1919 until his abdication in 1929, initially as Emir and then after the declaration of a monarchy in 1926, as King. Early in his succession to Emir, by staging a surprise attack on British India, he orchestrated the beginning of the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Lasting less four months, Afghanistan's War of Independence saw them gain complete control of their own foreign affairs and emerge as a fully independent state. His reign was ended by the outbreak of a civil war in 1928, leading to his abdication and exile in 1929
