28 7/8in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63. PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH', (rubbed) and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, wall thicknesses at 17 and 20, some pits and dents, Dickson patent treble-grip round actions, patent use numbers 1357 and 1358, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, the actions and furniture with bold acanthus scroll engraving on a matted background, the sides engraved JOHN DICKSON & SON PATENT' in scrolling banners, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 1/2in. figured stocks (cracked at hands) including buttplates, No.2 fore-end with loss to wood right hand leading edge, weight 6lb. 4oz., in their brass-cornered oak-lined leather case

Provenance: A photocopy of the entry in the makers records (supplied) informs that gun numbers 6195 & 6196 were ordered on the 30th October 1909 for a W.J. Kippen as a 'pair of best double patent ejector 12 bores hammerless guns 1357 + 8 (new ejectors) with 29in. steel barrels'
