A .338 LAPUA MAGNUM 'PRODUCTION PROTOTYPE AX' BOLT-MAGAZINE TACTICAL RIFLE, serial no. 09 AX 14405,
London proofed 2009, 29 1/4in. fluted nitro barrel (including muzzle brake) and fitted with a sound moderator, blue anodised fore-end fitted with a folding bipod, rail mount, detachable magazine (with spare), folding adjustable stock, weight 17lb. 8oz.
Provenance: We have kindly been supplied with the following information regarding this rifle by the vendor:
"This is my Accuracy International AX .338 Production prototype. I bought / acquired it directly from Accuracy International in 2013, when I worked with them.
There are differences from this rifle and the final production model. The cut out on the chassis allowing the magazine to be slid into the rifle from the side, was reversed to the other side on the production models. This also has the fluted barrel, again not seen on production models. The fluted barrel was not used on production model as no significant advantage was found to be achieved with a fluted barrel. The finish on the fore end is also smooth anodised, and I am not sure that they produce the rifle in black, again both different from the production models"
