for 1897, with nickel-plated round 4 1/2in. barrel signed on the top in two lines, calibre designation to the left hand side, six-shot fluted cylinder, solid frame with three lines of patents and the 'Colt' trademark stamped within a circle on the left, spurred hammer, guarded trigger and finely chequered hard-rubber birdshead grips, the back-strap with thumb-spur, fitted with an under-barrel ejector, retaining a strong amount of original plated finish
