for 1862, 30in. bold damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. PATENT BREECH LOADER', some denting and pits, and small fracture to right barrel, Charles Lancaster patent slide-and-tilt action with rotary-underlever, recessed bosses, striker discs, non-rebounding back-action locks with high-spurred hammers of hare's-ear form, the breasts of the hammers hitting the strikers, large triggerguard, best bold acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates with 'C. LANCASTER LONDON PATENT' in scrolling banners, the action bar with 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT', the triggerguard tang with three pheasants, 14 3/8in. well-figured stock with engraved steel buttplate, the tang with a hound and fowl, weight 7lb. 12oz.
