circa 1910, with octagonal 24 1/4in. barrel signed 'HAMMOND BROS PATENTEES, WINCHESTER on the side top-flats at breech, matted sighting plane with dove-tailed bead fore-sight and standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, side-lever opening originally with automatic ejection now converted to extractor only, plain action with traces of colour, central hammer, chequered walnut pistol-grip butt-stock with iron heel-plate and chequered walnut splinter snap-on fore-end
