A SUBSTANTIAL 4-BORE PERCUSSION FOWLING-PIECE OR BANK-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1840, with round twist tapering 48 1/2in. barrel, the top near breech signed 'CLARKSON, NEWCASTLE', bead fore-sight, octagonal breech-section, long borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved back-action lock signed 'CLARKSON', walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, rubber recoil pad (perished), twin barrel keys, the fore-end tip remodelled with horn and original ramrod aperture plugged
