A SCARCE .177 BREAK-BARREL AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'THE ANSONIA', no visible serial number,
circa 1912, with octagonal 16 3/4in. rifled barrel retaining a detachable brass muzzle-cap, the top-flat marked 'THE ANSONIA, RIFLED BARREL', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, cast air-chamber with hinged barrel catch on the left-hand side marked 'ANSON'S BOLT ACTION', trigger unit with ribbed trigger, chequered half-pistol grip butt-stock (hairline crack at wrist), the left side of butt stamped 'E. ANSON & CO 14 STEELHOUSE LANE BIRM.', top of comb with oval copper escutcheon, iron heel-plate and exposed cocking link (strong traces of original finish with some shallow pitting, mainspring collapsed)
