A LITTLE USED PAIR OF 12-BORE (3IN. MAGNUM) 'THE RUTLAND' SINGLE-TRIGGER OVER AND UNDER SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. R0003 / 4,
30in. one-piece nitro barrels (London magnum proofed in 2012) with grooved solid matt top-ribs, gold-inlaid '1' and '2 at the breech ends and with bold acanthus scroll detailing to the tubes, over barrels engraved in script 'Longthorne Gunmakers. Longthorne. Made in Lancashire. England', the under barrels engraved with barrel patent details 'REG. DESIGN 4019198, 4019709, 4021200' and the serial numbers, 3in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke in all, hold-open toplevers, the standing breeches gold-inlaid '1' and '2', side bolsters, automatic safeties with engraved 'SAFE' details, gold-washed single-triggers, the actions, furniture and lockplates profusely engraved with bold scrolling acanthus interspersed with floral detailing, all on a finely matted background, the lockplates with central relief engraved depictions of the Belvoir peacock and gold-inlaid 'LONGTHORNE RUTLAND' in a scrolling banner, the undersides with central ducal coronets, the fore-end irons decorated en suite and relief engraved with the Manners family crest, blued and silver finish overall, 15in. highly-figured stocks (No.1 cracked and expertly repaired at hand), weight 7lb. 3oz.
