A RARE CASED .476 OVER-UNDER HOWDAH-PISTOL, MODEL 'LANCASTER'S PATENT', serial no. 7901,
circa 1885, with re-blued 6 1/2in. barrel group signed on the top 'CHARLES LANCASTER (PATENT) 151 NEW BOND ST LONDON', nickel-crescent fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight on the receiver, boxlock double-action only hammerless action with side-lever opening, chequered walnut birds-head semi-sawback grips, guarded trigger and refinished throughout; together with its original oak travelling case, the interior lined and compartmented in green baize, the inner lid with Lancaster trade label and retaining a bullet tray for 18 rounds (not present)
