A SCARCE .450/.455 SERVICE REVOLVER WITH SIX INCH BARREL, MODEL 'MKIV', serial no. 129322,
with blued 6in. Metford rifled MKVI-type barrel, blade fore-sight, sighting notch to stirrup barrel locking latch, the side of top-strap marked 'MKIV', break-open frame marked on the left hand side 'S.P.' and with auto-ejecting fluted six-shot cylinder with matching number, blacked hammer, chequered hard-rubber birdshead grips with lanyard ring at heel (small chip to front edge of right hand grip), Union broad arrow stamp to back-strap, the whole retaining much original finish with some fading to high spots

Provenance: This revolver was shipped to The High Commissioner for the Union of South Africa in Cape Town. March 1914. The 6in. barrel is confirmed as correct. We are gratefully indebted to info@armsreasearch.co.uk for this information
