circa 1878, with 7in. sighted barrel signed 'MERWIN HULBERT & CO NEW-YORK USA' together with patent dates to March 1877 along the top, the left hand side of barrel further signed 'HOPKINS & ALLEN MANUFACTURING CO NORWICH CONN. USA', blind-fluted cylinder, plain frame with barrel slide release catch forwards of the trigger-guard (action requires attention), mottled red-black gutta-percha chequered grips, provision for lanyard ring to base of butt (absent), the whole retaining strong traces of its original nickel-plate
