32in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH', 2 5/8in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, incorporating J. Erskine patent barrel lumps, patent no. 1261 of April 17th 1868, use number 179, carved percussion fences, non-rebounding back-action locks, fine beaded border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining some original colour-hardening, 14 1/2in. well-figured stock including skeletal steel buttplate, weight 8lb. 2oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on the 28th April 1873 for James Cheape of Strathtyrum, St. Andrews
