A 14-BORE NEEDLE-FIRE SPORTING-GUN, MODEL 'DREYSE PATENT', no visible serial number,
circa 1860, with 29in. damascus barrels, the top-rib inlaid in silver with 'V. DREYSE, SOMMERDA', the breech block engraved with fine-lined open scrolls and inlayed bands, walnut half-stock chequered at wrist, raised cheek-piece, long spurred, engraved heel-plate, moulded horn trigger guard, the trigger-plate and swinging under-lever engraved with geometric designs, the lever further inlet with a white metal running dog (rubbed smooth), iron sling swivels, brass tipped under-barrel wood ramrod, traces of original finish.
