circa 1875, with octagonal stepped to round 21 1/4in. barrel, the top flat signed 'GEBRUDER SIMON SCHMALKALDEN', dove-tailed fore-sight, continental style heavy dove-tailed rear-sight with elevating blade, open rounded iron frame with central hammer, large disk-shaped push-button barrel release, chequered walnut straight hand butt-stock with raised continental-style cheek-piece, iron heel-plate, spurred lower tang (traces of nickel-plate) and button and stirrup swivels, no provision for fore-end
