A PAIR OF 16-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED OFFICER'S PISTOLS,
circa 1840, with octagonal 9in. brushed bright slightly swamped scratch-rifled damascus barrels, bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, scroll engraved top-tangs, borderline and scroll engraved back action locks, one signed 'BLANCHON' the other 'MAUBERGE' forwards of the hammer breasts, walnut half-stocks with chequered grips swelling at the base and mounted with iron grip-caps, the central lanyard swivel unscrewing to reveal a bullet worm in one grip (the other frozen), spurred trigger guard bows, plain triggers and iron ramrods with brass pan-heads, brushed bright finish throughout with some loss to detail
