A .31 PERCUSSION PEPPERBOX REVOLVER, MODEL 'ALLEN'S PATENT WORCESTER PRODUCTION', no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with 3 1/4in. moulded barrel group with shallow flutes, one marked 'ALLEN & THURBER' and 'WORCESTER', (lightly struck), scroll engraved nipple-guard, scroll engraved rounded boxlock action with guarded trigger and bar hammer the side of hammer marked 'ALLEN'S PATENT 1845', the frame fitted with smooth walnut bag-shaped grips, strong amount of blued finish remaining on barrels, traces elsewhere
