in the Continental fashion circa 1835, with octagonal smoothbore 9in. barrel, bead fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight at the breech, scroll engraved breech-block and top-tang, border and scroll engraved lock of flint style, dolphin hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered flat-heeled grip, guarded set trigger and no provision for ramrod
