A CASED RARE .44 PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL 'SECOND MODEL DRAGOON', serial no. 9485,
for 1851, with round 7 1/2in. barrel with octagonal breech-section, the top signed 'ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY', nickel fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the hammer-nose, plain cylinder with roll-engraved Indian scene, squared locking notches, open iron frame marked 'COLTS PATENT', brass grip-straps and trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip and hinged under-barrel rammer, traces of finish throughout, un-numbered wedge and complete with a walnut case possibly adapted from another, 'W & J Rigby' trade label inside lid, compartmented and lined in tan velvet and complete with an iron double cavity mould, steel-handled cleaning rod, L-shaped nipple key, cap-tin and Sykes patent powder-flask, all apparently period.
