circa 1862, with octagonal 7 5/8in. barrel signed 'E. WHITNEY, NEW HAVEN', possible period replacement nickel blade fore-sight, top-strap with pinched sighting-groove, solid iron frame, with wing-nut cylinder release, plain cylinder with faint traces of a roll engraved scene, articulated under-barrel rammer, brass trigger-guard and smooth flared walnut grips (small inlet working repair to toes of both grips), minimal traces of finish
