A GOOD PAIR OF 18-BORE FLINTLOCK PAKTONG-MOUNTED HOLSTER-PISTOLS FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET, UNSIGNED,
circa 1770, with 12 1/4in. iron barrels carved with raised central sighting ribs and featuring chisel-carved panels of acanthus style scrolls at breech, the top of sighting rib and top-tang covered with engraved sheet brass (detail rubbed), flat, slightly curved bevel edged locks with chisel carved pointed tails and acanthus engraved bodies, chisel engraved cocks, ribbed squared frizzens, plain walnut full-stocks profusely decorated with carved, pierced and embossed paktong mounts including chisel engraved butt-caps with embossed finials to the side-bars, pierced and chisel carved pierced apron around the top-tang, pierced and engraved sideplate, embossed barrel bands, extensive muzzle-caps with alternate rope-twist and plain bands, relief engraved trigger-guard bows and triggers and false ramrods with spiral engraving
