A .750 (NOMINAL) FLINTLOCK MUSKET, MODEL 'WINDUS PATTERN', serial no. 30,
dated for 1796, with round iron 39in. barrel signed at the breech 'MEMORY' together with the East India 'quartered heart' trademark and the date, block fore-sight, moulded band at breech, solid top-tang, radiused lock signed 'MEMORY' below the pan and with the E.I.C. trademark and date repeated at the tail, walnut handrail three-quarter stock, carved apron around the top-tang, heavy brass furniture, iron stirrup swivels and iron ramrod

Provenance: Michael Memory had a long career, supplying on average 10% of the total arms purchased by The East India Co. in the years before 1800. At the time this musket was commissioned he was trading at 50, Great Prescott Street, London
