A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING RIFLE WITH BLUE & GILT BARREL SIGNED 'PARIS', no visible serial number,
French, circa 1800, with 35in. swamped octagonal barrel rifled with twelve grooves and retaining much original blued finish, the barrel decorated at the muzzle, mid-section and breech-end with gilt panels of incised foliage, rear-sight with one standing and one folding leaf, gold-lined touch-hole, foliate engraved tang, rounded border engraved lock signed 'A PARIS', figured walnut full stock with leather-covered pad to the comb, 'hog's bristle' set triggers, engraved iron mounts including scrolled trigger-guard with urn finial and rounded side-plate, iron sling mounts, and iron ramrod (some discolouration to lock and mounts).
