30in. bold damascus nitro barrels, rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 11 PANTON ST. HAYMARKET. LONDON.' and numbered '5' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, Lancaster patent assisted-opening action with carved fences, striker discs, slim toplever inlaid '5', automatic safety with enamelled 'SAFE' detail, dipped-edge lockplates, mainspring cramp adjuster screws, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and renewed finish, 14 7/8in. well-figured stock (crack at hand), fore-end with grip-catch release lever, inlaid '5' (the fore-end iron also numbered 5), weight 6lb. 9oz., in its original single leather case, retaining full complement of trade, charge and instruction labels, the lid outer marked G.W.C. No.5'

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was made for a G.W. Cox in 1910. The repeated number '5' detailing to the gun and case remains a mystery as no other guns are recorded as being ordered by G.W. Cox.
