Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that the rifle was formerly the property of J. C. Pardal.

José Pardal was one of the very last big game hunters to operate in the former Portuguese East Africa, now known as Mozambique, before colonial rule was over-thrown by a communist backed military junta in 1975. Blood-letting was rife in the country following the coup, but Pardal managed to escape with his family and returned to Portugal.

It was after his return to his native country that he wrote a book entitled 'CAMBACO Caça Grossa em Moçambique' which was published by Safari Press and may now be considered a rare tome. This rifle is pictured in the book alongside his other main rifles.

In 1996 he followed this with a second book, 'Moçambique - CAMBACO II - Memórias dum caçador africano'.

Other Notes: A copy of 'Cambaco', the fly leaf with a hand written dedication by Jose Pardal (dated 1986) comes with the rifle.
