circa 1875, with browned damascus tapering 38 1/4in. barrel, the top signed near breech 'JOSEPH NEEDHAM & CO. 26 PICCADILLY LONDON', bead fore-sight, large colour hardened butter-knife lift up handle releasing the rear hinged breech-block, the flat rear-portion with safety catch and marked 'NEEDHAM'S PATENT No. 1050', plunge ejector mounted to tip of fore-end, colour hardened borderline engraved top-tang, walnut half-stock with chequered full pistol-grip capped in iron (numbered '3051' in the wood behind grip), iron borderline engraved heel-plate and chequered beavertail fore-end with cross-bolt fastener
