Product Details

METROPOLITAN ARMS, NEW-YORK
A CASED SCARCE .36 PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL '1851 STANDARD NAVY', serial no. 6323,
for 1866, with reblued 7 1/2in. octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed 'METROPOLITAN ARMS CO NEW-YORK', plain refinished cylinder scrubbed of scene, open iron frame, brass grip-straps and smooth one-piece walnut grips, in a later competently produced wood case lined in red velvet and containing a rare original 'Metropolitan Arms Co' double cavity mould

Other Notes: Manufacture at Metropolitan Arms Co. in New-York started in earnest after the disastrous fire at Colt's own factory practically halted production. The pistols are an identical copy of the Colt 1851 Navy, but only around 6,000 were produced.
