A RARE PAIR OF BRASS MOULDS BELIEVED FOR A 16-BORE REILLY'S PATENT EXPLOSIVE BULLET, serial no. 81,
and conforming by description to British Patent no. 1259 dated April 23, 1869, comprising of a 'Pritchard' type (q.v.) single cavity brass scissors mould with frontal pouring spout and aperture for a nose plug, the base-plate or sprue cutter absent, one handle marked 'E.M REILLY & CO LONDON & PARIS', the left side of mould body signed 'REILLY'S PATENT 81', together with a brass flat pan-mould designed to throw a circular disc approximately 1/8in. deep and 1/2in. diameter, believed to be the base plug for the bullet, the shaft fitted with a turned mahogany handle, iron sprue-cutter, the underside of mould marked 'REILLY'S PATENT 81' .
