28 3/4in. (shortened) Greener trade mark wrought steel barrels, matt rib with banner engraved 'W.W. GREENER. MAKER. 68. HAYMARKET. LONDON. WORKS. ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM. "H. LEUE. BERLIN"', the breech end gold-inlaid '1' and the tubes with oak leaf and acanthus detailing, bore dimensions marginal and right barrel at 19, scroll-back treble-grip action with side shoulders, manual side safety, fully engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, floral designs and oak leaves, brushed finish, 14 3/8in. figured stock (crack at head) with horn drop points and including 1 1/4in. rubber recoil pad, fore-end with engraved Deeley & Edge patent release catch and ornate horn finial, weight 7lb., in a brass-cornered leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was started on 17th March 1906 and finished on 11th May 1912 with 30in. barrels. It was number one of a composed pair (gun No.2, serial number 56529, started on 4th May 1908 and completed on the same day as No.1). The pair was subsequently shipped for sale by Greener's agent in Berlin.
