Product Details

E.J. CHURCHILL
A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 1231,
30in. replacement nitro barrels (circa 1953), rib engraved 'E.J. CHURCHILL 8, AGAR STREET. STRAND. LONDON. WC2.', and gold-inlaid '3' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '3', automatic safety with engraved 'SAFE' plaque, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, the underside with the 'EJC' trade mark, bright and blued finish with blued pins, 14 7/8in. well-figured stock, weight 6lb. 13oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather case with some accessories

Provenance: The makers records gun No. 1229 as being 'one of a set of three hammerless Ejectors' with single triggers', actioned by Southgate (of Southgate Ejector fame) in their gun order book, dated 3rd May 1901 for a J.F. Laycock. The set of three guns are shown in the order book as 1229, 30 and 31, but the workshop gun number book shows 1231 as a 4-bore single A&D - below this entry is written 'gun No. 1256 altered to 1231 for Laycock Esq.'

Later records in the order books refer to J.F. Laycock Esq as Brig. Gen. Sir Joseph F. Laycock, H.g.u.g., D.S.O.
